Diablo 2 farming can be repetitive. I suggest you choose something you are passionate about and farm instead of taking the fastest option. It is important to have fun with games, not run the same monster 1000 times because it's more efficient.


Personally, I prefer to switch between different runs and focus on the areas where I'm having the greatest fun playing. Having a couple of different characters is also beneficial, as it provides more variety on both the skills and locations.


Drops of items are the ideal method of acquiring a number of runes. A very good way to get more runes is to take out a lot of monsters in games with a lot of other players. If you're a solo player, use the /players X command.


Magic Find does not provide any benefits to those who hunt runes. This makes it simpler. Rune hunters can acquire Magic Fine gear. But, it's not highly recommended, since magic find increases the chances of finding Unique and set items that can be useful or could be exchanged (for runes). In other words, don't do not use Magic Find.


It is best to rune for the most powerful monsters that your character is able to kill quickly and in a safe manner. Like magic hunting, a balance between killing speed and monster level must be struck. It's not a good idea to spend your time trying to kill a monster with a high level simply because they have a.000001% higher chance of dropping a Cham.

It is best to kill swiftly in areas the areas in which your character will be killed the fastest. In order to increase the quantity of item drops areas with a lot of monsters are better. Places like the Secret Cow Level, the Flayer Jungle, or the surface areas of Act One (with their teeming Fallen camps) are popular killing zones due to the high density of weak monsters.


The Countess is the only monster with a significantly greater chance of dropping runes. It is located in the fifth level of The Forgotten Tower, Black Marsh level of Act One. She is not likely to drop high-level runes that exceed 24-25, therefore don't expect anything above that as odds aren't favorable for you.


Some monsters can drop runes more easily than others, as they have a smaller loot table. These include Wraiths, Finger Mages, Vulture Demons Willowisps, and the Swarm. It's still a challenge to locate runes for these monsters, as they don't appear in large number.
