The Kiswa is the black cloth that covers the Kaaba, the sacred structure at the center of the Grand Mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The Kiswa is made of high-quality black silk and embroidered with gold and silver threads, featuring Quranic verses in elegant Arabic calligraphy. It is replaced annually on the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah, during the Hajj pilgrimage.
